How to completely stop water flow after flushing( water keeps running after the flushing )

After flushing it is possible that the flush switch may get stuck therefore the flushing mechanism will not completely close hence the continuous  flow of water into the bowl after flushing.  When this happens try to flick the toilet switch  repeatedly  and see if the water stops flowing.
